Backriver Retreat is a one bedroom self-contained cabin, inspired by Bali yet nestled in the countryside of the Far North, New Zealand.
This labour of love project began in March 2020, when we moved to Peria from Auckland on the very eve of the first lockdown in New Zealand, brought on by the global Covid-19 pandemic.
Starting with an overgrown back garden and dated 1990’s log cabin, our dream was to create a functional, sustainable and tropical paradise by mid 2021. It took us a little longer than expected, but in October 2022 we launched Backriver Retreat on AirBnb.
